Well only because of who's buried there! Made a trip out of Arkansas back to OKC just to see his headstone.
I understand" Pretty Boy" Floyd is buried here, that's cool.
Most travelers would stop here because Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd is buried here, but you could have a hard time finding him. This small town cemetery does not give you any signs to where Charles is buried. He is buried with his family off the main road that divides the cemetery from front to back (he is on the back half side) , but you will have to walk a little bit and the headstone does not identity him as "Pretty Boy". Just Charley Arthur Floyd, which is a flat headstone. The cemetery appears to be maintained to a point and it appears to still be an active cemetery. There is no office on premises to ask questions. The cemetery is quiet and off OK-101, but very nice.
Cemetery's address is 104186 S 4680 Rd, Sallisaw, OK. Yes, with the 6 numbers. That'll get you close. But in fact you do not turn onto South 4680 Rd, you continue east on Oklahoma Hwy 101, PAST the cross-street of South 4680, and Akins cemetery will appear very soon on your right (the south side of OK-101.) P.B. Floyd's grave is one of the few consisting of a 3-foot flat stone, and atop that a 1-foot flat stone engraved, that says only "Charley Arthur Floyd", not Pretty Boy. Grave is centered between the southernmost (farthest from entrance) two parallel, gravel roads at rearmost area of graveyard. It's about 150 ft. east of the westernmost fully-graveled road and from the gravestone, about 200 more feet eastward, is one of the biggest pine trees in the whole cemetery, whose trunk is at least 2-ft in diameter. There are Floyds everywhere at random so you have some searching to do, but persistence will pay. You'll find it.
